Compliance & FAQ

Is Closed Door Consultancy legally compliant with UK employment law?

Yes. All CDC consultants are legally contracted and perform genuine roles within your organisation. We operate within the bounds of UK employment law and workplace conduct standards.

Will our discussions be kept confidential?

Yes. At Closed Door Consultancy, confidentiality is not just a principle—it’s a promise and core value. Before any detailed discussions begin, we propose signing a mutually agreeable Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure absolute discretion and legal protection for both parties.

This agreement safeguards sensitive information, commercial strategies, and internal operations from the outset.

We understand the trust required to invite an external consultant into your business. That trust begins with a clear, binding commitment to confidentiality.

Your business stays protected. Your conversations stay private. Your insight stays yours.

Do you collect personal data during your assessments?

No. We do not collect or process personal data unless explicitly authorised and legally justified. All observations are anonymised and handled securely in accordance with UK GDPR.

Will staff know they’re being assessed?

Not directly. Our embedded approach is discreet and authorised by senior leadership. We do not announce our presence to staff, ensuring authentic, unfiltered insight. However, we never engage in covert surveillance or deceptive practices.

Is this ethical?

Absolutely. Our consultants follow strict ethical guidelines. We observe and report respectfully, without interfering in workflows or breaching trust. Our goal is to empower leadership with truth, not to expose or embarrass.

Do you disrupt operations?

No. Our consultants perform real job functions and integrate seamlessly into your team. We observe without altering processes or drawing attention.

How do you protect our business reputation?

Confidentiality is one of our core principles. All findings are shared exclusively with authorised leadership and never disclosed externally. Your reputation and privacy are fully protected.

Do you work with regulated or professionally qualified industries?

No. CDC does not offer embedded assessment services within regulated sectors that require professional qualifications or licensure, such as legal, medical, financial services, or formal education. These environments demand specialist oversight and compliance frameworks beyond our operational scope. We focus exclusively on commercial, operational, and service-based industries where our methodology delivers the greatest impact.

How long does a typical engagement last?

Engagements vary based on scope, business size, and complexities. Some clients would opt for short-term insight (2–4 weeks), while others prefer ongoing assessments over several months. We’ll work with you to define a timeline that delivers meaningful results without overstaying our welcome.

Will your consultant be qualified for the role they’re placed in?

Yes. We carefully try to match our consultants to roles that align with their experience and skillset. They are fully capable of performing the job function while discreetly observing workplace dynamics. If we do not have a particular skill set required, we will endeavour to source the correct individual, ensuring the appointment fully understands the scope of the assignment.

Do you offer remote or virtual assessments?

No. Our methodology relies on in-person, embedded observation. Remote assessments do not provide the depth or authenticity required to uncover real cultural and operational insights.

What happens if staff suspect something in a Covert Assignment?

Our consultants are trained to maintain discretion and professionalism at all times. If questioned, they remain within the bounds of their assigned role and do not disclose their purpose. We do not engage in deception, just quiet observation while doing the job needed.

Do you provide post-assessment support?

Yes. We offer debrief sessions, strategic planning support, and follow-up assessments if desired. Our goal is not just to report findings, but to help you act on them effectively.

Is this service suitable for startups or small businesses?

Absolutely. Smaller teams often benefit from early cultural insights and leadership feedback. As business grows, so do the people and cultures, habits, and ethos start to change below the surface, so our service will certainly help. We tailor our approach to suit your size, budget, and growth stage.
